Price Groups

We're pleased to announce the new Price Groups feature for the Aurora platform - enabling you to carve out groups of customers, charging each group different prices for the same product.

This could be used to offer lower prices to customers who have a loyalty card, or reward those that have made certain purchases in the past. Where relevant, coupons, basket promotions and price discounts are applied on top of the Price Group price.

The feature works by first allowing you to create various Price Groups - this enables you to specify different prices for any or all of your products. Leveraging your customers individual data, you can then create dynamic rules to assign a particular Price Group to a set of customers. As a customer then browses your store, they will see the prices for their Price Group only.

Price Groups can be assigned to customers based on various dynamic rules, such as:

Is the customer logged in or not?
Does the customer have a loyalty card?
Has the customer placed a certain number of orders, or spent a certain amount on your store previously?
Is the customer viewing your store from a particular locale?

Security Improvements

Aurora already benefits from best in class security features, such as Multi Factor Authentication. Additional security features have recently been implemented, including:

• A user can no longer be logged in on multiple sessions at the same time. Previously, a user could sign in with their username and password on multiple sessions simultaneously. Changes have been made to prevent this. Now, where a user is already signed in, any subsequent sign in will result in the previous session being automatically logged out

• If a user forgets their password and chooses to reset it, any existing sessions will now automatically be logged out

These improvements are rolled out as part of your scheduled Aurora updates.

Improvements to the Foundations of the Aurora Platform

The fundamental platform on which Aurora operates has been updated to take advantage of the latest cloud based technologies, such as those provided by Amazon Web Services. This allows us to package Aurora up and deliver it via the cloud. The resulting benefits include:

• Instances of the Aurora platform will support an increased level of automated scaling, allowing them to react up to 60% quicker, scaling faster to better handle increases in traffic

• Deployments to production will be faster, more reliable and also facilitate quicker rollbacks

• Development environments can now be set up and configured in minutes as opposed to hours, allowing us to speed up development of the platform, deploy test instances quicker for QA and spend less time working on infrastructure set up

• The new platform enables us to more rapidly adopt new technologies, whilst also simplifying updates to existing frameworks

Linnworks Plugin

Integrating your commerce technologies into one central system

We are pleased to announce a new Aurora integration with the Linnworks platform.

Linnworks is a SAAS platform that allows you to connect multiple channels into a single selling and fulfilment process. Using Linnworks, you can save time and maximise sales by syncing your operations across multiple marketplaces automatically.

The Aurora Linnworks plugin allows you to import orders created through Linnworks into your Aurora instance. These orders can then be processed centrally within Aurora. When orders reach a configured status within Aurora, the orders are automatically marked as processed within Linnworks, allowing channel integrations to release funds.

Locales

The Aurora platform already boasts industry leading support for stores with multiple currencies, languages and product channels. We’ve recently been building on this to further improve the localisation options available to you. We’re pleased to announce this as a new feature, called Locales.

The new functionality allows you to create specific locales that tie together currencies, languages and product channels into groups. These groups give you granular control of how your store is presented to customers from different locations, all whilst utilising a single instance of Aurora.

A customer visiting from a location can be assigned a default currency and language, based on the default options you specify for each location.
Additional languages and currencies can now be tailored for each location, giving the customer a degree of customisation based on their preferences, but always within your own scope.
Product channels can now be tied to a location to further refine a customers experience, limiting the products available to a customer based on their location.
To compliment this work, we’ve created new headless API endpoints to allow the creation, editing, searching and deletion of locales.
We’ve also updated the legacy Aurora API to support locales when carrying out searches for products via the product search method.

Eagle Eye Updates

The Aurora Eagle Eye integration is a great way to integrate gift cards into your omnichannel offering. The global gift card market is growing rapidly - it’s expected to double in value in the next five years alone. Digitising your gift card scheme with Eagle Eye not only enhances the consumer experience, but increases brand engagement, especially among younger consumers, such as millennials.

Recognising the importance of this, we’ve proactively updated the Aurora Eagle Eye integration to utilise the newest version of their API, ensuring you have access to all the latest features.

We’ve also streamlined the integration process, so that Eagle Eye can now be set up without any bespoke Aurora development - just updates to your front end templates. Prior to these updates, bespoke development was initially required to utilise the Aurora Eagle Eye integration.

Adyen Updates

The Aurora integration with Adyen already allows you to accept online payments via cards, mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and more. And we’ve just upgraded this integration to now support RevenueProtect, allowing you to block fraud, prevent disputes, and stay ahead of the latest fraud trends using advanced technology combined with customisable risk rules.

Detect, prevent and respond to fraud from a unified view of payment data
Use risk templates combined with advanced technology to customise your fraud setup
Add further customisation with detailed risk rules and thoroughly check each transaction
Use experiment tools to optimise live traffic for the best outcome
Control how you get notified, review, and action chargebacks
Identify abnormal behaviours across a range of customer journeys

As well as implementing the above, we’ve also added the ability to store a high level summary of user card details.

With pre-filled data for all Klarna shoppers, you can now offer the convenient shopping experience customers expect, even if it’s their first time shopping with you.

In the cart - Customers choose Express checkout and log in to their Klarna account.
At checkout - Their information is pre-filled in your checkout so they can buy with one click.
Post-purchase - In the Klarna app, your customers get a clear overview of their purchases and can easily manage payments.
